About Us:Nader & Ebrahim S/O Hassan Bahrain is a reputable distributor and a major importer of fresh produce from the Middle East. Sourcing fruits and vegetables at around 18,000 metric tonnes per month from around the world.
To expand their market, June of 2001, NEH Bahrain established NEH Philippines Inc. based in Davao City, Philippines. To oversee the operations of NEH Philippines, Paul Smits was appointed as General Manager. A Dutch national and a prime mover of the fresh fruit industry, He joined the NEH Bahrain servicing the Philippine operations of the company. He was also tasked to implement a strategic development plan to maximise the Middle East and Far East markets for the marketing of Philippine Cavendish bananas. The first task of the Philippine company is to select roster of people to implement the programs that they will be integrating in the company. These programs include financial planning, supply chain management, marketing strategies and logistics and distribution.
The programs implemented in NEH Philippines made significant contribution in the process management of the company. Procurement of bananas were done efficiently, financial controls were also in place and successfully made contracts with banana growers in supplying quality Cavendish bananas to the Middle East and Far East markets.
NEH Philippines will explore other sources of fresh produce to be exported/marketed directly to the Middle East and the Far East.
NEH Philippines sources its produce from only the best growers of fresh Cavendish bananas in the area. Under strict quality standards, farms are chosen based on the quality of fruit they bear, proper farm management and implementation of environmental impact assessment on the farm.
With in four years of operations in the Philippines, NEH has now contracted more than 500 hectares of banana farms with three reliable growers(one family owned and two cooperative growers). Majority of the farms are located in Davao del Norte. Farm expansion programs are on going to serve the increasing requirements of our various markets.
The company started with less than 10 people in 2001 and now NEH Philippines employs a total 42 people. This includes 5 production personnel providing technical support to NEH contracted growers in order to maximize their production and reduce costs and 14 Quality Inspectors positioned in the various packing houses to ensure that bananas packed in the boxes are within market specification.
NEH Philippines did not limit itself to bananas, in order to cater the markets growing needs, NEH Philippines is now starting to go into sourcing of other products such as fresh pineapples, banana chips, mature coconuts, and ginger.
The mother company, NEH Bahrain is responsible for the marketing and distribution of the bananas in the Middle East region.
In the Far East region NEH Philippines was able to penetrate Japan, Korea and New Zealand markets through strategic alliance with the reliable importers and distributors.
NEH Philippines sees to it that its two major markets will receive their preferred fruit specifications. Middle East markets prefer the bigger hand class (4/5/6H sizes) while Japan needs the 6 Hand size and the clusters. While the smaller hand sizes will be packed for the Korea market.
NEH Philippines works on customizing its products and services for its customers satisfaction. With this in mind our partner growers will be assured of continuous growth.
